Arrange attribute groups into an editing layout that follows the work people do on a product.

Key concepts and when to use them

An attribute panel is a visible section on a record detail page. Panels contain groups and help editors work in a deliberate order. Panels apply to Product, Brand, Category, and active custom entity types. A panel changes presentation, not the definition, type, or availability of an attribute.

Permissions and preparation

Attribute panels are administrator-only definitions. Editors and viewers see the resulting record-detail layout but cannot maintain panels.

Steps

  1. Select the record type first: Product, Brand, Category, or an active custom entity type.
  2. Identify the stages of enrichment, such as identity, commercial content, technical facts, and media, then create a panel for each meaningful stage.
  3. Link the relevant attribute groups and place them in the order editors use.
  4. Open a representative record detail for the selected type and review the layout.
  5. Make small changes, then tell editors what moved and why.

Verification

A new editor should be able to complete a known product by working from the first panel to the last. Check that important required information is not hidden among unrelated details.

Common mistakes and rules

  • Do not use panels to decide whether an attribute applies.
  • Do not make a panel for a single field unless that field has a distinct workflow.
  • Do not move fields often without a reviewed reason.

Work through a representative example

For a brand record, select Brand as the record type and create a panel for identity and another for brand content. For a product record, select Product and use panels such as commercial content and technical details. Open both record details after saving. The panels should guide the intended editor without changing which attributes apply to each record type.

When a custom entity type becomes inactive, do not use it as a panel target. Review its records separately before changing the shared panel layout for active record types.
