Delivery

Choose the delivery method that matches the destination: channel configuration, export or feed output, or activation publishing.

Key concepts and when to use them

A channel describes where product information is intended to be used and which products, categories, languages, and channel-specific values apply. An export or feed is an output prepared from catalogue data. Activation publishes configured content to a connected destination. These are separate decisions.

Permissions and preparation

Prepare complete product data and agree the responsible owner for each destination. Admins and editors can maintain channel relationships and create exports. Activation destination configuration is administrator controlled; publishing follows the permissions shown in the workspace.

Steps

  1. Configure the channel and link the products or categories that belong in it.
  2. Review language coverage and channel-specific product values.
  3. Use an export or feed when the destination needs a file or generated output; check its scope before sharing it.
  4. For an activation destination, configure and test the connection before publishing.
  5. Publish only after a small, representative check, then monitor the run history and resolve failures before repeating it.

Verification

Confirm that the destination received the intended product count, fields, languages, images, and associations. Record the checked sample and the time of the successful publish or export.

Common mistakes and rules

  • Do not assume linking a product to a channel sends it anywhere.
  • Do not use an export job as an activation publish.
  • Do not publish an untested destination or ignore a failed run.

Work through a representative example

For a retailer, first configure the Retail web channel and link a small product selection. Create an Export Job when the retailer needs a file, or configure and test an activation destination when it accepts publishing. Check the returned file or publish run against the selected chair. The channel remains the selection context; the job or activation run is the delivery event.
