Channels
Configure the catalogue context for a destination; use export, feed, or activation delivery as a separate next step.

Key concepts and when to use them
A channel is a named destination context. It holds the products, categories, languages, and channel-specific values that apply there. A channel configuration does not itself create a file, feed, or published destination update.
Permissions and preparation
Agree the destination owner, permitted languages, and product scope. Admins and editors can maintain channels and their relationships. Viewers can inspect channel content.
Steps
- Create a channel with a clear name and code.
- Choose the enabled content languages that the channel needs.
- Link the products or categories that belong in the channel.
- Complete any channel-specific product values and review readiness.
- Choose the delivery method separately: create an export or feed output, or use a tested activation destination where it is available.
Verification
Open the channel and confirm its product and category assignments, languages, and representative product values. Then check the selected export, feed, or activation result rather than assuming the configuration delivered content.
Common mistakes and rules
- Do not use a channel as a duplicate product.
- Do not assume a channel link publishes a product.
- Do not disable a language that an active channel uses.
Work through a representative example
Create a Retail web channel with the languages and product categories used by that storefront. Link a representative chair and review its channel-specific values. The channel now describes the intended catalogue context; it has not sent anything. Create an Export Job or use a tested activation destination next, then inspect the resulting output or publish run separately.
If the storefront needs a different language or field, adjust the channel context and recheck the selected record before creating another output. Do not create a second product to represent that destination.
